At Clark Elementary We Strive to Reach for the Stars

Clark Elementary School has a tradition of 75 years of "Excellence in Education." Our faculty and staff strive to provide the best possible educational environment for each of our students.

We strongly believe that the result of our students' success is a combination of interactions among the school's teachers, staff, parents, and community. Clark School is fortunate to have all of these in place, with support from our parents, an active PTO, Kid's Company I, and the many companies and individuals throughout our community

Clark Painting To Be Shown at New York's Big Screen Plaza

A painting created by Clark art teacher Missy Kern and her students will be shown at Big Screen Plaza in New York City on March 2 and 3.

Artsonia, the largest online kids art museum, has teamed up with the National Art Education Association to present student artwork from across the country. In conjunction with the NAEA National Convention, this video showcases artwork from schools nationwide. Over 6000 art teachers will be attending the NAEA National Convention on March 1-4, 2012 in New York City. From the thousands of art teachers nationwide, 500 teachers have been selected to showcase one piece of artwork from their school.

Clark Elementary's painting will be shown at Big Screen Plaza in Midtown Manhattan on Friday, March 2 and Saturday, March 3 at approximately 5:39 p.m. EST. The slideshow features 500 pieces of work, and will display each piece of artwork for approximately 20 seconds. The slideshow will be shown in its entirety on Friday, March 2nd from 5-8pm (EST) and again on Saturday, March 3rd from 5-8pm(EST).

Martial Arts Champ Encourages Clark Students to 'Change The Game'

Martial arts champion Jackson Rudolph motivated Clark students to 'Change The Game' as he spoke of past experiences and demonstrated basic self-defense.  The session, which was a reward for good behavior, was designed to encourage students to live disciplined lives.

Rudolph, an 8th grader at Paducah Middle School, used his own experience in martial arts to illustrate the need for discipline to accomplish goals.  Rudolph trains from one to four hours each day while maintaining a 4.0 GPA in school.  He is a 22-time champion in karate.  He has won seven gold medals for Team USA.  He will compete in Los Angeles at the end of February.  He has appeared in commercials for Sunny D and Sylvan and plans to audition for NBC and Disney.

Schools’ junior Beta Clubs helping others

by Rebecca Feldhaus

The Paducah Sun, January 24, 2012

Used with permission.

Students at Paducah Middle and Clark Elementary schools have a new outlet for involvement.

Both schools started a junior Beta Club before the new year. Clark Elementary School fifth-graders who are on the A/B Honor Roll and receive a recommendation from a teacher can join 35 of their peers in leadership. Because the group didn’t hold its first meeting until December, club sponsors decided they could fit in just a few events before winter break.

Sharon Carvell, Clark Elementary librarian and group co-sponsor, said instead of having a Christmas party, junior Beta Club members adopted a Clark family for holiday presents and needed clothes. Kids also got a chance to put their hands to work by stuffing holiday meals bags at the Family Service Society. The society has become the unofficial focus for the club’s first year of service. Before the year’s end, Carvell said, every member of the club can volunteer at the Family Service Society again.

Becky Clark, gifted, talented and creative coordinator and junior Beta Club co-sponsor at Clark, said the club gives more students a chance to shine.

Downtown Kiwanis Club members presented a bike to Clark third grader Camden Marshall, the Clark "Read to Ride" winner for the fall semester.

The Kiwanis Club donated a bicycle, helmet, and lock to Clark, McNabb, and Morgan elementary schools as part of the "Read to Ride" program. To qualify to win the bike, students took Accelerated Reader quizzes. The students' names were placed in the drawing for each AR quiz that was passed during the fall semester.

GPSP Partners With Clark for Recycling Pick-Up

GPS (Greater Paducah Sustainability Project) recently partnered with Clark Elementary to pick up recycling once per week.  This huge bin holds cardboard, aluminum and plastic.  This is Clark’s 3rd year to recycle within the school as a part of the “Green Team” effort.  4th graders are chosen each quarter from Mrs. Karen Armstrong’s science classes to recycle based on their behavior, improvement in science, and dedication to conservation.
